With hosts Wortley unable to raise a side for the local derby, Fox Valley Trophy clash with near neighbours Stocksbridge, an Away Walk Over was awarded to Stocksbridge. This decision meant that Globe Holidays sponsored Stocksbridge Rugby topped the table for 24hrs before the rest of the Round 2, Counties 4 Yorkshire South fixtures were played. 'it's a shame' said Stocksbridge skipper, Andy 'clock tower' Beal, 'the boys had prepped well & we were looking to improve on our performance from last week.' Young Jack 'rooney' James made an impressive debut off the bench last week, continuing the legacy of father & sons representing Stocksbridge Rugby over the years, leaving veteran Dad, Ricky 'rooney' James proudly puffing his chest out ! Stocksbridge will get a rest from League action next week as they travel to Hallamshire RUFC in the early round of the Counties Community Cup. The Coal Pit Lane Arena will host the Round 3 clash with Sheffield Medics on 27th September, with a 3pm kick off, with back-to-back home fixtures seeing Maltby RUFC visit on 4th October. Training continues at the ground on Wednesdays with a 6.15pm start time.
Meanwhile the winners of the September 100 club draw have been announced as No 70, Alan Eckersley £100 and No 77, Peter Newton £25, well done to both.
