Another bye week left Globe Holidays sponsored Stocksbridge Rugby without a fixture, but with the opportunity to watch the dramatic England victory over hot favourites France in the Mens 6 Nations tournament at the weekend.
The enforced break has again given the Stocksbridge walking wounded more time to heal, with skipper Andy ‘clock tower’ Beal the latest casualty with a shoulder problem. Player/Coach Aaron Kaye is anxiously checking on the fitness of Aspin, James, & Green along with the availability of the talismanic O’Leary, Whitaker & the Martin bros for this weekend’s Round 15 crunch fixture, away against 3rd placed Maltby RUFC. The weekend’s results see Stocksbridge cement their 4th position in the Counties 4 Yorkshire South league ladder, & they will be looking to improve on this over the next couple of rounds, including the next fixture at The Coal Pit Lane Arena, the Sponsors Day clash v’s Hessle RUFC from Humberside on March 8th, with a 3pm kick off time. The latest player stats show that Stocksbridge have used 40 players in their 13 games played so far with skipper Beal & burly prop Gary Woodcock being the only ever presents. Full back Tom Kerr leads the try scoring chart with 6, helped by his hat-trick in the Fox Valley Trophy decider recently. Scotty Bowskill is the leading points scorer with 60 so far, all from the boot, while Kerr is next in line with 41 pts scored.
