Talented young starlet Harrison ‘stormin’ Norman claimed 3 major awards at the Stocksbridge Rugby Club’s presentation evening last Friday. Along with his top try scoring trophy, he also scooped the Coach’s Player of the Year, & the coveted Player’s Player of the Year awards to round off a promising season for the up & coming centre.
The Most Improved Player, sponsored by Goodlad Contracting & presented by Miss Dawn Woodcock, went to Jack Leary, kindly sponsored by Mr Mark Logan.
The Young Player of the Year, sponsored by John Heath & Sons & presented by Mr Peter Newton, went to Joe Martin, kindly sponsored by Asphalt Grid Systems.
The Top Try Scorer, sponsored by Asphalt Grid Systems, also presented by Mr Peter Newton, went to Harrison Norman, kindly sponsored by Ms Diane Woodcock.
The Champagne Moment, sponsored by Premier Stone Worktops, & presented by Mr Andy Tyers, went to evergreen Ricky Christopherson.
The Man of Steel, sponsored by Funding Solutions, also presented by Mr Andy Tyers, went to Gary Woodcock, kindly sponsored by Valley Property Services.
The Commitment Award, sponsored by JP Cooling Services, presented by Captain Mr Adam Frith along with Vice Captain Mr Andy Beal, went to Logan Hannah, kindly sponsored by Mr Nigel George.
Club Personality, sponsored by Bradfield Brewery, presented by Club Chairman Philip ‘donk’ Watts, went to Charoltte Hale-Watts.
Supporter of the Year, sponsored by John Crawshaw Butcher & presented by Mr Andy Beal, went to Mr Leslie Frith.
Coach’s Player of the Year, sponsored by Fox Catering, presented by Head Coach Mr Andy Lawrence, went to the afore mentioned Harrison Norman.
Player’s Player of the Year, sponsored by the Club’s title partner Globe Holidays, again presented by Head Coach Mr Andy Lawrence, went to Harrison Norman.
Club Chairman, Phil Watts thanked all members for their efforts both on & off the field with Meryl Randall, Dawn Woodcock, Charlotte Watts, Nicky Symmons & Bev Birch receiving bouquets for their contributions over the season. Club skipper, that man Adam Frith reflected over a tough campaign, & praised the encouraging crop of young talent emerging during the season in his speech, before announcing he will be stepping down as Club Captain.
Love was in the air also as Laurie Faux proposed to fiance’ Becky Mowberry, & of course, she said ‘yes’ !
