The recent snowfall & continued cold snap contributed to the enforced cancellation of the Counties 4 Yorkshire South Round 12 clash between Globe Holidays sponsored Stocksbridge Rugby & their visitors from West Yorkshire, Knottingley RUFC. The fixture has already been re-scheduled & will now take place at Coal Pit Lane Arena on 25th January, with a 2.15pm kick off time. The postponement gives player/coach Aaron Kaye chance to rest some of his walking wounded, & prepare for next week’s tough encounter with table toppers Dearne Valley RUFC. Kaye is hoping to have experienced campaigners Aspin, James, Whitaker & O’Leary available as they recover from injury & unavailability. Versatile three quarters Gentles & former skipper Roles-Middlehurst will also come into contention for selection after coming off the bench during the last outing at Hessle RUFC. The build up continues towards the 3rd & deciding clash in the Fox Valley Trophy series, kindly sponsored by Fox Valley themselves. Stocksbridge Rugby & local neighbours Wortley RUFC are currently tied at 1 game all & level on points scored, & both sides will fancy their chances of winning some silverware, when the teams next meet on 1st February. ‘it’s frustrating, but there’s nothing we can do about the weather’ said Kaye, ‘the boys are on a programme to help with their general fitness during these difficult times’, he said, before adding, ‘I’m sure we’ll all be chomping at the bit, & keen to get stuck into our next opponents, & show just how much we have improved’.
