Forced to cancel a scheduled fixture due to a lack of officials, Globe Holidays sponsored Stocksbridge Rugby welcomed the week off to give several injured players time to recover. Back-to-back victories on the road has taken a toll on the playing roster with Whitaker (ankle) Woodcock (calf) Aspin (dislocated finger) Porter (ankle) Leary (hamstring) & skipper Beal (nose) joining Cuttell (knee) needing treatment for their injuries. Some will struggle to be available for this weekend's home clash against Wath Upon Dearne 3rds. Last weekend's results leave unbeaten Stocksbridge handily placed in the Counties 4 Yorkshire C league ladder, with a game in hand. The newly renamed Grov Park Arena will host its first game under this title, & a minute's silence will be observed before the game in memory of former club secretary & stalwart Mick 'grov' Gribbins who passed away recently. The club held their annual Harvest Festival event over the weekend, with Club Chairman Philip 'donk' Watts in the auctioneer's role, & a good sum of money was raised for the club's playing section along with a brain tumour charity. Looking ahead, popular vocalist Stacey Rhodes will be live in the clubhouse on Sunday 8th November from 4.30pm, & the club's Christmas Jumper game will take place on 19th December when Wheatley Hills 2nd XV visits the Grov Park Arena.
