Another pre-season begins for Globe Holidays sponsored Stocksbridge Rugby club, with sessions every Wednesday from 6.15pm. Training has been well attended, with player/coach Aaron Kaye putting his charges thru their paces, & he has been impressed with the early season enthusiasm. Hoping to continue the improvements from last season, Kaye has added to his playing roster with exciting young prospect D'Angelo Daley-Green (back row) plus the returning Matt Taylor (front row) to give the squad some depth. The signs are also good for the fit again Will Cuttell & Reece 'diesel' Aspin, with only poor Tom Kerr on the physio bench as he recovers from complicated knee surgery. With the ambitious club finishing 2nd in the competition last year, Kaye has high hopes to go one better this time around. A fuller fixture list for the Counties 4 Yorkshire C section begins with 2 home games, commencing on 12th September when Wheatley Hills 2nds will visit the Coal Pit Lane Arena, followed the week after by Sheffield 3rds. The date for the diary for the local 'Fox Valley' derby clash with near neighbours Wortley RUFC is set for 17th October.
The funeral for club stalwart & secretary Mick 'Grov' Gribbins will be held on Thursday 23rd July at midday in the North Chapel at Grenoside Crematorium, with a celebration of his life at the clubhouse afterwards.
